Worship services

As an international community, St Anne's has services in Amharic, English, and Swahili.  The building is also home to the Estonian and Latvian congregations in London who have monthly services.

Our  schedule is this:

English: every Sunday at 11:00 and 18:00

Swahili: 1st Sunday at 14:00

Amharic: every Sunday at 15:00 at St. Vedast, Foster Lane.

Music at St Anne's   Music is significant in the life of St Anne's Church. Choral music, often with instrumental accompaniment, is an aid to worship in many of the services.   The choir is directed by Martin Knizia  our Cantor and Director of Music.

Lunchtime Recitals
are at 13:10 each Monday and Friday, and occasionally on other days.

Pastoral care   The pastor and the staff of St Anne's are available for emergencies in which pastoral care, counselling, or prayer may be desired.  Click here for contact information.

The easiest way to get to us is by tube.   St. Paul's (Central Line) or Barbican (Metropolitan and Circle Lines) are both close by.  Click here for directions.

Call Process Update

Senior Pastor Call Update

Dear Members and Friends of St Anne’s,

The Council of St Anne’s is happy to announce that they have invited three Senior Pastor candidates to come and preach at the 11am Eucharist Service at St Anne’s. These services will be followed by a question and answer period with the congregation and candidate. The dates for these services are as follows:

18 January, 2009 Rev. Michael Oakley

25 January, 2009 Rev. Hildur Inga Rúnarsdóttir

1 February, 2009 Rev. Timothy Dearhamer

The Council will hold an extraordinary Congregational Meeting for 8 February, 2009 at 1pm when members of St Anne’s will vote for a Pastor. While only members of the congregations are able to vote, we encourage all friends of St Anne’s to attend and contribute to the discussion. If you are a member of the congregation and are not able to attend any of the services, please ask a member of the Council for a copy of the candidate’s application or email the Call Committee [link to vacancy@stanneslutheranchurch.org] for more information. It is expected that a Senior Pastor will be in place at St Anne’s in March 2009.

The Council and Call Committee thank everyone for their prayers and support during this process. While it has been a long process, we are pleased and excited to soon be calling a pastor who will guide and assist St Anne’s in continuing to live out our mission.

Many blessings,

The Council of St Anne’s Lutheran Church

We would also like to take this opportunity to update the Church’s Member Database. If you are a member of St. Anne’s Lutheran Church, please email the Call Committee with the following information for you and your family:

We meet at the historic church of St. Anne & St. Agnes, re built by Sir Christopher Wren after the great fire of London in 1666, and re-consecrated in 1680.  Following severe bomb damage during World War II, the Lutheran Church assisted in restoring the building according to Wren's design.  In 1966 it was re-hallowed and dedicated for
Lutheran worship.
