Pastoral Services at St. Anne's

Pastoral Services

Served by pastor in charge, Pastor Elize Zikmane and two assistant pastors; Pastor Moses Shonga, Swahili service and Pastor Sarah Farrow, students and children.  St. Anne’s provides pastoral services to those in need of baptisms, confirmation, funerals, and home visits. For all enquiries, please see our contact information below.

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism marks the beginning of Christian life. Whether a candidate for baptism is an adult or child, we believe she or he is called by the Holy Spirit to receive the forgiveness of sins and the promise of everlasting life. For adults, instruction is necessary before being baptised.

Confirmation is the public affirmation of one’s baptism before the church, a symbol of full membership in the community. Instruction is necessary before being confirmed, and we offer confirmation classes on an as-needed basis. Our curriculum centres on the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism, with ample time for discussion and feedback. Instruction typically includes biweekly classes and regular worship attendance.

We at St. Anne’s are able to bless civil marriages and offer the blessing of God and support of our community.

Pastoral Visitation

From time to time, you may find yourself in need of someone to talk to, whether at home or in the hospital. Our pastoral care team regularly visits members who are too ill or otherwise unable to come to church. We are a church that cares for each other.

Christian funerals are solemn times when we give thanks for the life of the deceased. Funerals at St. Anne’s are a reflection of our baptisms in a time of mourning. Together, we gather around the cross, grieve the loss of our loved one, and hear the good news of the resurrection. Memorial services are also held for when there is no body or when it is impractical to have a service before burial.
