O sing unto the Lord

Music is central to the worship at St Anne’s, and we are proud to maintain a strong and varied programme which enriches all of our services. Grounded in the Lutheran tradition which was the first to incorporate hymns for everyone to sing, and which inspired extraordinary creativity from the likes of Buxtehude, Bach and Handel, the music at St Anne’s is supported by professional choirs and soloists, as well as visiting groups and our Congregational choir. The grand Hill organ, once described as one of the ten most important in the country, floods the church with glorious sound.

St Anne’s has several keyboard instruments which are regularly used for services, concerts and rehearsals, and which are available to hire. The chamber organ, built by Vincent Woodstock, has three stops (8′, 4′, 2′) can be used in either modern or baroque pitch. The harpsichord has two sets of strings and can also be transposed from modern to baroque. A tuning jack is kept with it.
